Conference Center Computer Lab Specifications

Hardware Specifications

• Located at the University of Tennessee Conference Center in Knoxville, TN. The computer labs are located in two separate rooms (room 418 and 420) on the Center's fourth floor.

• Lab 418 has 10 Dell GX270s (2.0GHz Celeron Processor), plus an instructor workstation.
• Lab 420 has 14 Dell GX270s (2.0GHz Celeron Processor), plus an instructor workstation.

• Each Dell workstation is equipped with the following:
  • 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron
  • Windows 2000
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 24x IDE CD ROM drive
  • 64mb video ram, allowing millions of colors at full resolution
  • 40 gb IDE hard drive
  • 3.5" floppy drive
  • 15" flat panel display, normally set to 800 x 600 resolution, but capable of 1280 x 1024 pixel resolution
  • Soundblaster-compatible sound card (headphones with built-in microphones are available on request)
  • Ultra high speed ethernet connections and individual IP address to UT Knoxville's campus intranet with fast access to the global Internet

• While it is possible to put two students at each computer, we do not recommend it due to space limitations.

• The labs are seperated by a glass partition and blinds that can be opened to create a single large lab.

• Each lab has a networked available Hewlett Packard Laserjet 5 printer available for student and instructor printing.

• Each of the two facilities are equipped with wheelchair-accessible workstations. Two wheelchair accessable workstations are available in room 418; Room 420 has a single wheelchair-accessible student workstation.
